Deal for SAG, AFTRA

Members of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists have ratified a three-year successor deal on industrial and educational broadcast material. The unions announced the ratification on Wednesday night and said 95% of the ballots cast were in favor. A total of 22% of 136,585 eligible SAG and AFTRA members cast ballots. The agreements are effective retroactive to May 1 and will continue through April 30, 2014. Minimum rates are boosted by 2% at the start of the contract and by another 2% on Nov. 1, 2012, as well as bump from 15.3% to 15.5% in employer contributions to the AFTRA Health and Retirement Funds and the SAG-Producers Pension and Health Plans. Specific language has also been added to require a 0.3% contribution to the AFTRA-Industry Cooperative Fund. The unions also said the pact defines and covers programming for new media. The tentative deal was reached March 30. The contracts have been renamed the AFTRA National Code of Fair Practice for Corporate/Educational Recorded Material and the Producers-SAG 2011 Codified Corporate/Educational Contract.
