Entrepreneurial skills are useful for more than just starting a business. The fundamental skills it takes to start and grow a business transfers to success in school, success in the workplace and success in life. Fun Family Games that Teach Kids Entrepreneurship

Many of the classic board games that we grew up with contain elements of entrepreneurship. Monopoly, for example, requires that players decide between conserving cash flow and rapid expansion. Even more basic games that require counting and math skills lay the foundation for your budding entrepreneurs.

The four games featured below, however, teach kids about business in a more direct manner. Not only will you and your kids learn skills that will last a lifetime, you will enjoy playing together as a family!

#1: Earn My Keep puts the fun into business for children ages 4-12. As kids get to research and become ?real professionals?, they?re exposed to the benefits of a lifelong love of learning and the seamless incorporation of subjects like business, science, art and finance.

Children select one of 50 careers and then choose a fun kid-friendly task from the career?s profile. When the child completes the task within an agreed-upon amount of time, you can choose to reward them with money or something else you choose as a family.

#2: The Cash Flow game is a classic favorite in our home. I love that there are two different versions of the game: one is designed for kids, ages 6 to 12 and the other for ages 12 and up.

The idea with the Cash Flow board games is to get out of the ?rat race? of a traditional J-O-B and moved into replacing the income from the J-O-B with passive income from businesses, investments, and real estate.

#3: The Millionaire Maker game is very similar to Cash Flow and is designed for ages 12 and up. We have it as well and play them each equally as often.

#4: Go Venture is ideal for middle school or high-school age children. The cool part about Go Venture is that in any single session players may be required to act out subjects as you would with Charades, solve word puzzles, answer trivia questions, draw, solve definitions, and answer riddles.

Every player participates in every single turn so there is no chance of getting bored. There is also a very collaborative team aspect to Go Venture where everyone is helping each other succeed in business.

Intense rumors started Tuesday when the publication published reports that the celebrity couple was separating.

The couple released a statement earlier this week saying they are not separating and that the rumors were completely false.

Despite that statement rumors have continued, with further reports claiming that Pinkett Smith had been caught having an off-screen affair with her Hawthorne co-star Marc Anthony. Those rumors have also been ?unequivocally? denied by Anthony's representatives.

However, an article in the current issue of In Touch magazine, released Thursday, alleges the contrary. The magazine cover states: ?Two Marriages Destroyed: Jada Steals J.Lo's Husband!?

The edition of In Touch features a six-page spread claiming that the publication has details from sources and photo evidence that Pinkett Smith and Anthony have been secretly involved.

In Touch alleges that Will found Pinkett Smith and Anthony together in early August when he made a surprise visit to one of their Los Angeles homes.

The article further claims that an insider was not able to give details of the encounter, but that Jada moved out of the house the next day and Will subsequently fired the house staff, accusing them of covering up the affair.

In Touch claims that sources have witnessed the chemistry between Anthony and Pinkett Smith on the set of the TNT drama Hawthorne.

?On set, everyone noticed the insane chemistry between them," a source allegedly told In Touch.

On the show, Pinkett Smith plays the role of head nurse Christina Hawthorne. In the recent season, Anthony plays police detective Nick Renata, with whom Christina is romantically involved.

It has since been reported that Will and Pinkett Smith have contacted their legal team and that action may be taken against In Touch.

Hurricane forces PGA playoff down to 54 holes (AP)

Before it hit land, Hurricane Irene trimmed at least 18 holes off the PGA Tour's first playoff event and forced several more schedule changes and cancellations along the East Coast.

U.S. Open tennis officials called off one of their big pre-tournament events, an MLS game was rescheduled and the New York Mets postponed their Saturday and Sunday games against the Atlanta Braves in advance of the storm.

The split doubleheader Saturday between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles that was scheduled for Saturday was postponed. The game originally scheduled for Saturday night will become part of a split doubleheader on Sunday. The first game is slated to start at 1:35 p.m., and the nightcap is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.

The afternoon game will be held on Sept. 8, previously an off day for both teams.

With up to 10 inches of rain expected Sunday in the New York area, the PGA Tour decided to turn the Barclays into a 54-hole event, with the top 100 players advancing to the second playoff tournament next week in Boston. If conditions worsen before 54 holes are complete, the tournament could revert to 36 holes.

"It kind of makes you want to cry because of all the effort that went in, and all of the energy that surrounded this event going into the week, which is going to be the best Barclays we have ever had," tournament director Peter Mele said.

The Giants and Jets originally moved their preseason game up from Saturday night to the afternoon, but decided on Friday to postpone it until Monday night.

At Flushing Meadows, the U.S. Tennis Association called off Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, a tennis-and-music event set for Saturday and scheduled to feature Novak Djokovic, defending champion Rafael Nadal and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks.

9/11 Environmental Concerns Lead to Student Health Advocacy ...

FIRST PERSON | My yearbook picture was taken on Sept. 10, 2001, and I rejected it immediately. It was only a couple of days into the school year at my downtown Manhattan high school, so I hadn?t assembled the ?look? I was hoping to be remembered by. When I looked at the picture that would identify me for posterity, I looked goofy. Young. Naive. Also, perhaps because of the former, I looked fat. I didn?t want to be remembered as young and fat. I wanted to be remembered as a mature, sophisticated and a latent genius.

We weren?t supposed to have pictures taken twice unless something went drastically wrong on our first try, but nonetheless I stealthily began preparations to get my picture retaken the next day. That night, I set out my clothing options. That morning, Sept. 11, 2001, I obsessed over my hair, wore more makeup than usual and brought extra blush and lip gloss just in case. I wore new shoes (in case we needed to do a wide shot, of course) and a carefully picked out a shirt.

As it turned out, there were no pictures taken on the 11th. My high school, just three blocks from the World Trade Center, was evacuated before the photo company even arrived. That day, instead of showing off my new shoes, I walked 10 miles in them. I didn?t get stuck in the dust cloud, but the terrorists did give me blisters.

The rest of my health was not assigned a fate by Osama bin Laden ? as much as it was by a panicking U.S. government that was eager to get business back to lower Manhattan and show how normal everything was. On Oct. 9, 2001, the powers that be sent Stuyvesant High School back to a contaminated school building next to the World Trade Center?s garbage barge, the floating transportation for debris from ground zero to the landfill in Staten Island.

That first day back, I walked toward school with the usual hoard of high-school students ? some in dust masks, others shielding their mouths and noses with scarves. But most were just breathing in the crisp morning air as if they couldn?t smell the smoke. Bottlenecking began about 100 feet before Greenwich Street, usually an unremarkable stoplight. The view on Oct. 9 was different. To our left, two metal girders smoked atop a pile of rubble, perfectly framed by the buildings on either side ? a show-stopping disaster-footage moment perfectly timed to remind us all what we were in for and what we had seen.

By that day in October, the excessive television coverage of the towers falling had interfered with much of my actual memory of the day. I did not just identify with running from the towers? collapse, as I had in real life; I also pictured myself in the dust cloud and, somehow, simultaneously filming from a nearby roof and casually commenting on how ?big? this event was. It allowed my own experience to drift into the realm of television, as if it were a distant action sequence, a memory that that I needn?t be trapped by.

Greenwich Street was unquestionably real, however. It reminded me that my memory of the actual day the towers fell wasn?t the only thing tying me to it. You can compartmentalize the past and remember it in whatever way makes it possible to go on. But the present is unquestionably yours. It can?t be mixed up with television and dismissed.

It took me several years to face the issues surrounding our return to the WTC site. But since 2006 I have tried to turn my lingering anxiety about nearly everything ? including random violent acts, airplanes, terrorists, the moral certitude of U.S. government policy, and the ways in which my health was and will be impacted by the events of 9/11 ? into political action. It has been the only way for me to use my fear productively.

I began to advocate for my fellow students, founding an organization called StuyHealth in 2006, right after James Zadroga, an NYPD responder, died of 9/11-related respiratory disease, the first of a long line to do so. StuyHealth focuses primarily on securing health monitoring and treatment for 9/11 survivors, specifically student 9/11 victims.

There are times that I feel silly advocating for alumni of the most prestigious public school in New York City, as if having the possibility of successful futures makes us invincible to poor health at the hands of terrorism and awful government policies. Nonetheless, the initial reason I got involved was that, because of a variety of factors, Stuyvesant needed a dedicated student advocate. We returned to lower Manhattan early ? months earlier, in fact, than other schools from the area. Additionally, Stuyvesant alumni, as well as other high-school students from lower Manhattan, are now dispersed, with most of us now living outside of New York City. We are one of the only groups from the community for whom that is the case.

Most concerning, we are a population at a uniquely vulnerable age during which health insurance is not an assured thing. Meanwhile, the possibility that we will get sick (or already are sick, in some cases) from our exposure to months and months of smoke, debris, and contaminated airshafts will linger over us for decades to come.

StuyHealth began with a simple petition, requesting medical monitoring and treatment for student 9/11 victims. When my friends agreed to sign it, I passed it on to friends of friends and eventually acquaintances. Today, StuyHealth is a network of more than 400 people, most of whom are organized through Facebook and other social media outlets. Through it, we disseminate information about health-treatment options for young adults and the state of the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act (Zadroga Bill). We also advocate for former students when federal, state or local legislation, as well as the administering of any resources for 9/11 victims, allows for community input.

There are a lot of things we learned as a society on and after 9/11 about how to cope with major disasters. Many have been put to the test since with varied results. A major lesson, one that I fear was not widely received, was not to use public-school children in acts of political symbolism.

I now realize Stuyvesant students were far from invincible. Being such a visible school put us in a very vulnerable position after 9/11 because our return to lower Manhattan had symbolic value and, as a result, was rushed. Political expediency should never be enough when making a policy that impacts children. It should never be enough when dealing with disaster victims of any age. Really, it should never be enough. I hope that we learned that much.

I did, by the way, end up getting my yearbook photo retaken later in my senior year of high school. By then, there was no strategy for sneaking into the line. We all silently agreed that nobody would speak of the first session ? that, in some way, we were all different people then anyway. And my new ?look? for the year? A gaze comprised almost entirely of nervous expectancy. I don?t remember what I wore.

PRASLIN ISLAND, SEYCHELLES?-- Is this paradise lost? That is the question facing all Seychellois, the people of this island nation who are stunned by two fatal shark?attacks in just two weeks.

The most recent victim, British newlywed Ian Redmond, was snorkeling when he was?killed. This tragedy took place only days after a French tourist was fatally bitten.

Anse Lazio, on Praslin Island, has long been heralded as one of the best beaches in the world. "It is the most beautiful beach. If you see it, you'll know that for sure,"?says James Lepair, assistant manager at Bonbon Plume, a popular Creole restaurant. He?fears that?business will dwindle if the shark isn't caught soon. "Ninety-five percent?of our clients are foreigners, we rely on them ... to come to Seychelles. We have to find the shark and put an end to the problem."

Taxi driver Winsley Esther agrees. The shark is the enemy. In his lilting Creole accent, he blurts out:?"We thought we could get it fast. If we do?not catch it, we don't know what will?happen next!"

The hunt is on. Local fishermen are?setting traps. Helicopters and planes ferrying tourists are diverting from their usual routes to scour the coastlines.

South African shark expert Geremy Clifton arrived to help. There is a military vessel just off the Anse Lazio and extra police are on patrol.

The giant creatures will sometimes literally make eye contact with their human observers. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.

"We will do everything it takes to catch this shark,"?head of Seychelles tourism Alain St. Anges says. "Until now we did not have any experience of shark attacks in the Seychelles. We decided to bring in experts from South Africa so that we can identify and get rid of this shark."

For now, visitors can only cast longing looks at the turquoise waters and take romantic walks along the pristine shores as swimming is banned.

That hasn't stopped Laure Celent and Christophe Aggase from enjoying their honeymoon. "It is a wonderful place, a paradise," Christophe said. "The birds, the trees and the beaches are so beautiful."

But even in their bliss, Aggase?says the shadow of the tragedy remains. "Of course, we?are here too on our honeymoon ... at the same time as this happened and we are very sad," he said. "Very sad."

3 dead, 70 others rescued in Philippine ferry fire (AP)

MANILA, Philippines ? An inter-island ferry with at least 75 people caught fire amid stormy weather in the central Philippines on Sunday, leaving 3 people dead, one missing while the rest were rescued, officials said.

The steel-hulled M/V Island Fastcraft 1 was cruising toward Cebu province when it caught fire during a downpour, prompting several passengers to jump into the churning waters. Three of them drowned.

Most of the passengers were rescued by a passing ship, said coast guard officer Fidel Hibaya said.

Coast guard chief Admiral Ramon Liwag said one passenger was reported missing.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the blaze, but there was a report of an electrical problem in the engine room before the fire. An investigation was under way, Liwag said.

The captain apparently ordered passengers and crew to abandon the ship when the fire began to spread, said Hibaya, commander of the coast guard detachment in Tubigon town in Bohol Province where the ferry originated.

The dead included the chief mate and two passengers, the coast guard said.

Liwag said his personnel alerted ships in the area to help in the rescue, preventing a larger number of casualties.

Sea accidents are common in the archipelago because of frequent storms, badly maintained boats and weak enforcement of safety regulations.

In December 1987, the ferry Dona Paz sank after colliding with a fuel tanker in the Philippines, killing more than 4,341 people in the world's worst peacetime maritime disaster.

U.S. "hikers'" lawyer to fight Iran spy sentence (Reuters)

TEHRAN (Reuters) ? The lawyer for two Americans convicted of spying in Iran said on Sunday he would appeal their eight-year sentence, which shocked their families who had hoped to see them freed after more than two years already spent in Tehran's most notorious jail.

Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal were arrested on the border with Iraq in 2009 where they said they were hiking. They were found guilty of illegal entry and espionage, a verdict likely to further strain Iran's already poor relations with Washington.

"We have 20 days to appeal and I will try my best to use all legal means to annul the sentence," lawyer Masoud Shafiee told Reuters.

"It was my belief, and still is, that they are innocent and I have not seen any evidence that shows they are guilty."

Bauer, 28, and Fattal, 29, share a cell in Tehran's Evin prison. They had pleaded not guilty to the charges at their closed-door trial which ended on July 31.

"Josh and Shane were informed about the verdict yesterday," Shafiee said, adding that he had not seen them in person. The two years they had already served would count toward their 8-year sentences, he said.

They were arrested on July 31, 2009 near Iran's border with Iraq, along with Bauer's girlfriend, Sarah Shourd, 32, who was released on $500,000 bail in September and returned home to California where she has been campaigning for their freedom.

Confirming a leaked report of the sentence, Tehran Prosecutor-General Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi told a news conference that no verdict had yet been passed on Shourd who did not return to Iran to stand trial.

TENSIONS

The "hikers" affair has heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, which cut diplomatic ties after the storming of the U.S. embassy in the wake of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Several prominent public figures including boxer Muhammad Ali and singer Yusuf Islam, both Western converts to the Muslim faith, have called for their release.

The verdict was announced as Russia launches a fresh attempt to find a diplomatic solution to a standoff over Tehran's nuclear program, which Washington says is aimed at making atomic bombs, something Iran denies.

A Facebook page called "Free the Hikers" brimmed with comments expressing shock and disgust at the ruling, and offering prayers for the jailed men.

According to the Facebook page, Fattal was visiting Bauer and Shourd in the Syrian capital Damascus where Bauer was working as a freelance journalist when they decided to hike in the mountains of neighboring Iraq.

If they crossed the unmarked border into Iran, it was by mistake, they have said.

Their trial took place behind closed doors and the evidence against them has not been made public.

In a filmed interview posted on the website freethehikers.org, Shourd said that after two initial months of interrogations her questioner told her their case was on hold as it was "political" and that she was caught in a "tug of war between two countries."

Media speculated that Bauer and Fattal could be freed as a goodwill gesture during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan which began on August 1 and will end toward the end of this week on a day that has yet to be announced by religious authorities.

Previously, Iranian officials had suggested the Americans might be swapped for Iranians jailed in the United States, an option rejected by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The semi-official Fars news agency reported that the family of an Iranian woman whose detention in the United States has been highlighted by some media as an example of unfair U.S. treatment of Iranians will fly to visit her on Wednesday.

Shahrazad Mir Gholikhan, was sentenced in March 2009 to more than five years in prison for brokering a deal to send night-vision goggles to Iran in violation of a U.S. embargo.

Nayarit has become a battleground for drug cartels fighting for control of the area.
