Las Vegas Vacation Recap | Daily Fantasy Sports

Forewarning, the following post has absolutely nothing to do with daily fantasy strategy and the like. Rather it is a small recap of my most recent 3 day adventure in the disney land for adults, a.k.a. Las Vegas. Originally I was planning on flying to Vegas on Sunday but after some mishaps with the flights, Monday became the day. I arrived around 11pm Vegas time (2pm EST) and after checking in at the Imperial Palace/dropping of my luggage in my room I immediately sat down at the $2/$4 Hold Em table.

$2/$4 Limit
I originally bought in for $60, lost it within an hour and then rebought for $50. After playing for about 2 hours I was sitting around $75 when the following hand came up. UTG +1 I get 2,2 and limp UTG +2 raises, 5 others call including myself and the flop comes Qc, 5s, 8c. I check, orig raiser bets, we all call. Turn is a 2d. I check orig raiser bets 4, all call, I raise, he reraises, all but 2 call, I cap, and their is now 1 all in, with three others of us going to the river which is another club. Im disgusted before any bets are made because I know that a $100+ pot is no longer mine. I check, orig raiser checks, 3rd man bets, we both call. Orig raiser has AQ, all in guy has 2 pair, and of course the last bettor flips over a seven three of clubs for a rivered 7 high flush.

That hand sums up the beauty and the beast aspect of a 2/4 game. You love the fact that degenerates chase shitty hands and continue to put their money into the pot, but being results orientated you hate how it ends up. Once the hand was finished I had lost about $30, and just decided to go to bed (around 4am).

$120 Bellagio Tournament
The next day at 1pm I entered the $120 Bellagio tournament because it was the only tournament that really fit my style of play (10,000 starting chips, 25 min blinds). Long story short I made the FT and with 7 left I raised on the button with A3d, UTG limper (also CL) called (hed be calling everything), flop was 10,7,6 rainbow, he checked, I shoved for my 10BB?s he snap calls 10,10. Im really just hoping he has a weak ace of low PP and will fold, but I had to make that move at some point because I was dwindling. It sucked because I know I knew I was a better poker player than that entire FT but when the blinds creep up you need shoving hands, and I just wasn?t able to find them in time.

Sports Betting
Everyday I was in vegas I bet on baseball and did pretty well. Im a sucker for the action so I was betting every game (nothing major) either straight up or run line or over/under. In total I won about $50 (which when betting $5-$10 a clip) isn?t bad. Same goes for the horse betting (went 6-6 at Saratoga).

All in all it was a great trip, my only regret is that I didn?t play a bit more poker, but 2/4 is so frustrating and I don?t love my NL game, but who knows, maybe next time I will make it happen.
