When I sat down today to do my daily fantasy baseball research I knew I wanted to look at current winning/losing streaks, vegas odds, and of course the ever important hitters hitting streaks. After about 2 hours I have come up with a team that I believe has a chance to compete this evening on FanDuel and hopefully you can get something out of this strategy discussion. So lets get started.
P, Jake Westbrook ? $6,300
The Cardinals are on a 1 game winning streak (which isn?t totally relevant) but the Astros have lost 4 in a row, scoring only 3 and giving up 6 runs during that stretch. Westbrook is a solid pitcher and I love the matchup. The vegas line is St. Louis -170. As much as I would?ve loved to snap up CC Sabathia the reality is that the price was to much to justify so I went with Westy.
C, Jack McKenry ? $2,900
After looking at the Pirates vs. the Braves game I knew I wanted someone on my team from Pittsburgh and this cheap catcher looks to do the trick. Hes playing decent as of late on a winning team that is full of energy and his price is perfect. I always go with cheap catchers because I would much prefer to spend money elsewhere (and you should to).
1B, Ryan Howard ? $3,600
Most people would avoid this pick tonight considering that Ryan is facing the formidable Tim Lincecum but I am undaunted. Looking at his recent stats and looking at his historical stats against Timmy I think hes worth the risk. The goal here is a home run, 1-4 won?t cut it and 0-4 for all intensive purposes would be devastating. If you wanted to play it a bit more safely you might consider someone like Mark Teixeria whos been hitting well as of late (tho he to is facing an ace on the mound).
2B, Ian Kinsler ? $3,900
This pick could?ve gone either way because I loved Justin Turner just as much as I loved Ian Kinsler. Ultimately it came down to money and if I have it, I am always going to spend it. Kinsler is on a fiery Rangers team that just got done putting up 20 runs and 26 hits yesterday. While its entirely possible for them to have a 3 run performance tonight I am betting against that happening with Pavano on the mound.
3B, Michael Young ? $3,600
Michael is playing well, and just as I said with Ian, he is on a great team that has the ability to put up runs in bunches. If these two guys are involved with 4-5 runs then the picks will pay off. Either way I believe that they are going to do just fine this evening.
SS, Jose Reyes ? $4,100
I love guys in their ?money year? and Jose is inside of his and he is dominating. This pick doesn?t need much of an explanation, if you can afford him tonight then you should put him in your lineup.
LF, Ryan Braun ? $4,000
When I decided to take Westbrook over CC I had the money for Braun so thats who I took. He doesn?t have great numbers against dempster but he has 4 homers in his last 5 so hopefully that streak will continue this evening.
CF, SECRET
I?m not going to reveal this pick because hes my main man this evening, and if he goes belly up it?d be to embarrassing to handle. If he goes 4-4 with a bomb however ill be bragging all day tomorrow ![]()
RF, Carlos Quentin ? $3,400
Originally I had the mucho en fuego Justin Upton in this spot but decided to save a couple bucks and take the equally fuego Quentin this evening. He is facing Verlander which is cause for some concern but I think he will have a good nigh (he has good career numbers against Verly.
So there you have it, my lineup tonight for Fan Duel. What do you think? Will you be playing this evening? Feel free to comment below!
